ABOUT
Where the Passion Begins
KARLENE HORSFIELD
Founder & Maker
Born and raised in Huntsville, Muskoka, Ontario, I love days at the lake, bonfires with friends and enjoying nature. You might notice that my work is often inspired by rustic/cabin vibes of this little cottage country town I grew up in! Hence "The Crafty Cabin".
I studied at Queen's University, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Global Development and a Bachelor of Geological Engineering. I currently live in Calgary, Alberta, where I am an Project Manager by day and Crafty Cabin creator by night. I love to spend my weekends exploring the mountains (hiking, skiing) with my husband and dog (a cockapoo named Alfie).

I have always been a passionate creative (often found bouncing between knitting, crocheting, sewing and baking), and during the pandemic in 2020, The Crafty Cabin was born; a little corner of the internet where I get to share with you my unique creations.
Usually made with fabric, sometimes with yarn, often with reclaimed materials, and always with love - I am so excited to offer my handcrafted goods for purchase. Apart from selling, The Crafty Cabin's mission is also to inspire and educate: I love to share many behind-the-scenes and tidbits about how YOU can get crafty at home too (follow me on instagram to see)!

At The Crafty Cabin, I periodically host fundraisers for causes I am passionate about. To date, I've raised nearly $5,000 through this platform for various causes including MS, Breast Cancer, Brain Cancer, The Covenant House, Indigenous organizations (Native Centre and Water Movement YYC), Childhood Cancer, a Women's Shelter and more.

I'd absolutely love to hear from you! I also LOVE collabs - don't hesitate to reach out to see how we can work together!

Happy Creating,
Karlene
